However, once overseas operations began, the complexity of driver verification proved to be far greater than expected. This directly affected driver onboarding efficiency, operating costs, and the platform’s ability to build a trusted transaction environment.

Pain Point: Large Differences in Documents Across Countries

Driver onboarding requirements vary significantly by country. Drivers may need to submit national IDs, driver’s licenses, vehicle registration documents, and other local qualification documents.

These documents differ widely in layout, field structure, and language. Traditional OCR technology often supports only a limited set of standard documents. For example, some systems cannot recognize information on the back side of ID cards, while country-specific documents such as vehicle registration certificates, NOC documents, and SRC professional qualification certificates are difficult to support consistently.

If small OCR models are adapted country by country, each new market would require separate model training. This increases technical costs and slows down the platform’s speed of international expansion.

Technical Challenge: Complex Real-World Capture Conditions

Drivers typically upload identity documents and vehicle photos in real-world environments, where images may contain glare, folds, uneven lighting, or occluded information. Vehicle photos are also captured from inconsistent angles and may include different vehicle types such as three-wheelers and motorcycles.

These factors reduce recognition accuracy and increase the likelihood of failed driver verification. As driver volume continues to grow, relying mainly on manual review would limit efficiency and create increasing pressure on operations teams.

Solution: Automated Verification Across Driver, Document, and Vehicle

To address the complexity of global driver verification, Qmove built an automated driver verification system based on FinAuth’s global identity verification capabilities. The system enables drivers to complete multi-dimensional identity checks during the registration process.

  1. The platform verifies the driver’s real identity through face verification. The system checks the submitted selfie and compares it against the portrait images extracted from multiple identity documents, confirming whether the registering user is the legitimate document holder.
  2. The system supports automated recognition and structured processing of national IDs, driver’s licenses, vehicle registration documents, passports, and selected country-specific qualification documents. It extracts key fields such as name, date of birth, and document number. Before recognition, the system also performs image quality and compliance checks to identify issues such as blur, glare, underexposure, overexposure, recapture, tampering, and occlusion, improving recognition accuracy and review efficiency from the source.
  3. The platform further extracts key information from vehicle registration documents and vehicle photos, including license plate number, vehicle type, and vehicle owner. This information is cross-validated against key fields from identity documents and driver’s licenses to complete driver-document consistency, driver-vehicle consistency, and driver-vehicle-document consistency checks.

When core information such as name, license plate number, and date of birth is consistent, the system can automatically approve the verification. If abnormalities are detected, the case is routed to manual review. Through this approach, the driver verification process has evolved from a fully manual model to an automated-first model supported by manual review, significantly improving verification efficiency.
